Organic Gelatinized Red Maca Root Chips
Our Organic Gelatinized Red Maca Root Chips are made from 100% Red Maca grown in the high Peruvian Andes. Instead of grinding the root into powder, the maca remains in small pieces, providing a traditional whole-root style format for teas, porridges and other recipes.
The roots are harvested, low-temperature dehydrated, gelatinized to reduce much of their natural starch content, and cut into convenient chips. Each 1 lb bag contains only Red Maca Root Chips — with no fillers, additives or other ingredients.

Why Choose Whole Red Maca Root Chips?
Maca chips are a distinctive way to use maca because the root remains in larger pieces rather than being ground into powder. For customers looking for a format closer to whole Red Maca root, chips provide a traditional way to prepare maca as a food.
They can be simmered, steeped or cooked and work especially well in warm preparations such as tea, cereal and porridge. They may also be cooked until soft and blended into smoothies or other recipes.

From Red Maca Root to Maca Chips
Our Red Maca begins as roots grown at high elevation in the Peruvian Andes. After harvest, the roots are carefully dehydrated and processed before being cut into chips.
The chips are gelatinized using heat and water to reduce much of the root’s natural starch content while keeping the maca in recognizable pieces rather than grinding it into powder.
Red Maca Chips vs Powder or Capsules
Maca chips, powders and capsules all begin with maca root, but each format is prepared and used differently.
Maca chips remain as small pieces of root and are generally simmered, steeped or cooked before use. Maca powder is finely ground and can be mixed directly into foods, drinks and recipes. Maca capsules provide a convenient pre-measured format that requires no preparation.
Which format you choose largely comes down to how you prefer to prepare and use maca.

How to Use Red Maca Root Chips
A suggested serving is 3–9 g daily. Because the chips remain as pieces of maca root, they are generally prepared by simmering, steeping or cooking before use.
Some simple ways to use them include:
- Simmer the chips in water until softened and add them to oatmeal or another warm cereal.
- Cook the chips until soft and blend them into a smoothie.
- Steep them in hot water to make Red Maca tea.
- Use them in traditional Andean-style porridges such as mazamorra.
Traditional Maca Mazamorra
One traditional way to prepare maca root is as mazamorra, a warm porridge made by simmering maca until soft and combining it with ingredients such as milk, flour, sugar and spices.
For a larger recipe, simmer the maca chips until soft, then combine them with the other ingredients and continue cooking until the mixture develops a thick porridge-like consistency. Cinnamon, clove or anise can be added to taste.
Maca chips can also be incorporated into your own soups, cereals and cooked recipes, making them a versatile whole-root style maca format.

Storage and Shelf Life

Suggested Use
Use 3–9 g daily, prepared in water, smoothies or other recipes. Maca chips are typically simmered, steeped or cooked before use.
A 1 lb (454 g) bag provides approximately 50 servings at 9 g per serving.

I love these maca chips! I have maca almost every day but sometimes don’t want the carmely earthy taste it’s known for. The chips make it easy to throw into smoothies or oatmeal so I can still get my maca or bulk up my meals!

What a great idea for when you need a quick, no mess, no fuss solution for maca on the go. I really enjoy chewing on the dry chips directly. They’re a fun and tasty little treat. I also enjoy making tea with them and eating the softened chips after. I’m excited to try the traditional maca porridge recipe that is included on the bag. Thank you, Maca Team. Blessings to you and the Peruvian Farmers. Thank you not only for such fresh high quality products, but for running the operation with integrity and being a role model for others. I feel as if I’ve been elevated from consumer to proud supporter of your company… and I like it :) .

I didn’t realize when I made the purchase that I had gotten the “chips” and not the powder. Being the first time using this product I assumed that’s how the powder looked. After a few weeks I looked online and noticed it wasn’t the powder. I try to let it sit in water for at least an hour to soften the chips for my smoothie. I’m going into week 4 and I haven’t noticed much of a difference. I took 2tsp initially….. daily for 3 days and noticed some stomach issues so I backed down to 1 tsp for 3 weeks and now I’m upto 2tsp with no issues. I’ll keep this going until the product runs out and if I don’t see any difference I’ll stop using it. They say not everyone gets the benefits of it so maybe I’m one of them :(
