Our Organic Premium Raw Red Maca Powder is made from 100% red maca roots grown in the high Andes of Peru. Unlike traditional sun-dried maca, the freshly harvested roots used for our Premium maca are processed shortly after harvest and gently dried at controlled low temperatures.

Premium Raw Red Maca Powder is a fresh-processed form of maca powder made exclusively from red maca roots. The roots are grown by an organic farming cooperative in and around Junín, Peru, one of the traditional maca-growing regions of the Andes.
The key difference is what happens after harvest. Rather than being slowly dried outdoors in the mountain sun, freshly harvested Premium maca roots are transported for processing and dried in controlled dehydrators at low temperatures.
Traditional raw maca is generally sun-dried before it is milled into powder. Premium maca follows a different process: the roots are handled soon after harvest and dried under controlled conditions.
This produces a maca powder with a different flavor, color and composition from traditionally sun-dried maca. Premium maca also tends to have a stronger, more pronounced flavor and is produced in smaller seasonal quantities because processing must take place around the annual harvest.

Have used for years, this last bag I purchased doesn’t seem the same. I usually out a scoop in hot water, mix and drink. This bag clumps up not dissolving making it hard to consume.

Since maca is a natural product there can be slight variation from batch to batch, depending on a lot of factors including the weather, the farm on which it was grown, when it was harvested, etc. Clumping happens because maca is hydrostatic (easily retains water). We try to break it up before packaging but sometimes a few do remain. If that’s the case, we recommend blending maca in a blender with your liquid of choice to break it up. Hope that helps!

I had a hard time trying this as a supplement, even though I was warned that the taste was not pleasant. I took about one teaspoon in several different forms, like mixed into pancakes, a smoothie, and made into capsules. There was a rotten flavor to the powder that I had trouble getting over – it was worst in the smoothie, but taking a capsule gave me burps with the rotten flavor. It actually made me gag quite hard in the smoothie, and each time after taking it I had a bad stomach ache, kind of like a small stomach bug. I tried it about 7 times, couldn’t keep going because the taste continues to make me gag.

I’m giving it two starts due to the taste. I had previously bought a bag of the organic red maca, and even though the taste wasn’t my favorite, I could drink it in just water. The taste of the premium one is so strong that I tried to mix with with milk and added cinnamon as recommended but it still lives a burning sensation in my stomach and makes me nauseous. I tried to exchange it/return it but they told me that was not possible because the product was opened. I’m still trying to figure out how to drink it. I might have to buy a bad of regular maca and mix it so the taste is snot so strong. So please be aware that the taste of the premium one is not like the regular maca, I wish I knew this.

I take a lot of supplements so can’t say for sure what exactly works and does not half the time; however I love this product for the taste and smell alone. I know some people apparently don’t like the taste of Maca but this brand is really yummy. I also have never had any digestion issues with this brand of Maca. I am taking 9 grams per day of the Red Raw Premium- mixed in a smoothie. So if Maca is everything it’s cracked up to be, and if the COA’s are accurate; I would highly recommend this product.
