Some may associate the start of Fall with orange leaves and crisp weather, but let’s be serious, we all know that the true marker of spooky season is when PSLs hit the coffee shop menu. As much fun as it is waiting in long drive-throughs that will inevitably make you late for your favorite 8am meeting, or behind someone who just looks like they have a ridiculously complicated coffee order (you know the type), why not pumpkin spice up your life from home? Think about it, you can create a clean ingredient PSL whenever you want. You have the technology. Well, now you have the recipe!
- 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1 tablespoons pumpkin puree, or more to taste
- 1 to 2 tablespoons Maple Syrup, depending on how sweet you like it
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon of Black Maca Extract
- 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1/2 cup strong hot coffee
- Whipped cream, for serving
Why Black Maca Extract? It has a sweet, pleasant taste, is low on the glycemic index, and is suitable for everyone, including children and diabetics. A Swiss study from 2010 showed Black Maca to excel at protecting bone structure and preventing osteoporosis. What’s more? 2 studies from China in 2006 and 2011 found Black Maca to be superior for increasing memory, concentration, and learning skills.
Add milk, pumpkin puree, and sugar to a saucepan over medium heat.
Heat until hot, but do not boil. Remove the saucepan from the heat and whisk in the vanilla, pumpkin pie spice, and coffee.
Pour into your favorite mug and add drops of Black Maca Extract.
Sip and stare longingly out the window, watch the golden leaves gracefully fall, and relish in the nutty flavors.
