How Maca Affects Energy and Immunity

Oh, the weather outside is frightful…and it isn’t getting better anytime soon. Even Southern states like Texas are facing a longer, more brutal cedar season sure to have you quaking in your boots and making calls to the allergist. Whatever the time of year is, extreme weather can be a real drain on your energy reserves. Your body and your brain alike may be struggling to keep up with tight, painful sinuses or the emotional lows of Seasonal Affective Disorder.

Sadly, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution to these ailments. But like so many other health issues, their severity can be mitigated with meaningful lifestyle changes: namely, a balanced diet and exercise regimen. Don’t go thinking you’re going to pass up that chocolate bourbon pecan pie at dinner and feel fit as a fiddle the next day. Benefitting from a health regimen takes time, which is part of the reason you have to be conscientious about your diet and exercise routine.

While there’s no magic pill that’s guaranteed to set you on the right track, we can suggest a capsule - a vegan maca root capsule, a quick and convenient way to work a nutrient-rich superfood associated with physical and mental wellbeing into your regular diet.

And it doesn’t have to stop with that capsule…

How Maca Affects Energy and Immunity

A 2020 study measured the effects of liquid maca extract on the energy metabolism and immunoregulation of subjects in a laboratory environment. It found that subjects experiencing spleen deficiency and other sources of bodily distress demonstrated significant improvement when dosed with the maca extract. It was believed that the maca solution inhibited loss of body weight and immune organ atrophy, while reversing declining white blood cell and platelet counts in addition to increasing the hemoglobin content within peripheral blood cells. The study concluded that maca root could be said to improve spleen function, improving its odds of successfully fighting infection in the body.

Maca has been associated with a wide variety of health benefits that have cemented its significance as a superfood since the earliest days of its harvesting in the Peruvian Andes. This particularly includes its energizing effect, which was (and remains) essential in such a high altitude part of the world. Modern research has verified many of maca root’s purported “medicinal effects,” which include its ability to mitigate fatigue and to help the body bounce back from strenuous exercise.

"The premium maca powder is truly vigorous on the physical and mental levels. Just minutes after ingestion on an empty stomach you can feel its vital power working and coursing through your veins. Resulting in a more awakened state of mind. It's truly a blessing. Thank you for providing such a high-quality product. " Eli Chadwick

That same need for endurance applies when you have to power through a cold or flu to get things done. While isolating while ill remains both important and necessary for the wellbeing of your community, some jobs just can’t be put off for very long. That’s where maca root comes in.

Maca is an adaptogen, working to counteract stress in your body and to regulate various bodily functions. In short, its many nutrients and enzymes help you achieve a kind of happy balance and state of overall wellness. This includes your immune system, helping you stay healthier (and happier) longer. There’s no shortage of research from trustworthy sources backing up its efficacy. Of particular note are the findings on the many valuable nutrients and amino acids that maca contains, particularly macaenes and macamides, which are found primarily in maca alone. Equally noteworthy are glucosinolates, especially in gelatinized maca, and which are known for their anti-inflammatory and cancer-fighting properties.
