There are lots of ways you can consider adding our organic maca root powders and extracts to your diet, but 

smoothies are by far the most popular. What’s so great about a maca smoothie? Well, for one thing, smoothies are delicious - who doesn’t like them? They’re also a great way to replenish valuable nutrients expended during a workout, or to pack in some calories before getting in some intense exercise. Delicious, nutritious, and refreshing besides! And adding maca to your favorite smoothies only serves to elevate their nutritional value. So let’s take a look at some of our go-to smoothie recipes, and some sent in by loyal customers besides.

Simple Maca Smoothies

If you’re looking for something simple and straightforward that delivers what you need without the frills (or sugar), check out these great recipes.

Maca Green Food Smoothie

We love green smoothies and adding Maca is a great way to give a smoothie that little extra boost. This green food Maca smoothie recipe is one of our favorites. It’s hearty and filling.

Ingredients:

  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 1 cup kale or other greens
  • 1-2 ripe kiwis
  • 2-3 T honey or agave syrup
  • 1 T coconut oil
  • 1 T ground flax seeds
  • 1/2 t vanilla extract
  • 1-3 T maca powder - raw or gelatinized maca is fine
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 cups unsweetened almond or rice milk

Directions:

Place all ingredients into a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Feel free to adjust ingredients according to availability and your taste. Remember to use organically grown foods whenever possible.

Maca and Chia Smoothie

This chia smoothie recipe is a great way to get two of our favorite Peruvian superfoods into your diet, Maca and Chia. It comes to us from Rebecca Forstadt-Olkowski over at Baby Boomster. Thank you Rebecca for this delicious maca root smoothie idea!

Ingredients

  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 1 tbsp maca powder (I used The Maca Team organic premium maca root powder)
  • 1 tbsp of chia seeds
  • ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon + sprinkling

Directions:

Add all ingredients to a blender. Turn on the blender for 2-3 minutes. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon.

Maca Energy Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 3/4 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1 T fresh ground peanut butter
  • 1 t Maca powder
  • 1 T vanilla protein powder (optional)
  • 1 T organic cacao powder

Instructions:

Combine all energy smoothie ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

Maca Peanut Butter Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients:

  • ½-1 cup almond milk (if you would like a thicker drink, use ½-3/4 cup milk)
  • 1.5 cup cooked butternut squash or pumpkin
  • ¼ cup + 2 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1 tbsp lime (or lemon) juice
  • 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 tbsp organic gelatinized black maca powder (or any other maca of your choice)
  • 4.5 tbsp liquid sweetener (honey, agave or maple syrup)
  • 2.5 cups ice

Instructions:

Place all ingredients, except for ice, into a high speed blender and blend until the mixture is smooth. Add ice and crush it on low speed. Garnish with dark chocolate, if desired. Enjoy!

Not-Quite-Maca-Smoothies

So, the following recipes aren’t technically smoothies…but they are nutritious beverages incorporating our Fair Trade, non-GMO maca and worth checking out.

Maca Power Juice Recipe

You can absolutely take Maca while juicing. Are you wondering how to take maca in juice? Mixing it in to any juice is fine. This is one of our favorite power juice recipes.

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 fresh carrots
  • 1/2 a lemon or lime
  • 2-3 radishes
  • 3 stalks celery
  • 1-3 t Maca powder

Directions:

  1. Juice all vegetables.
  2. Add Maca powder and blend either in a blender or a blender bottle.
  3. Enjoy immediately.

Citrus Maca Morning Jumpstart Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 TBS Red Maca Root Powder
  • 1 juiced ruby red grapefruit
  • 1 juiced orange
  • 1 juiced lime
  • 1 juiced lemon
  • 1 TBS Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar (optional)

Instructions:

Mix until all powder is dissolved or place in a blender for 30 seconds. Drink or sip this delicious jumpstart drink through a straw.
