Maca for Prostate Health

Maca for Prostate Health

Posted by The Maca Team on 24th Jul 2023

With so many reported benefits, it’s easy to mistake maca for some kind of miracle cure. But maca isn’t magic, and we’re no snake oil salesmen. And there’s a good reason inhabitants of the Peruvian Andes where maca has been historically farmed for centuries still stand by it as a popular remedy for a number of ailments. In combination with a healthy diet and regular exercise, maca can help your body achieve a level of balance you might not have thought possible. Stress levels, stamina, hormones - as an adaptogen there are lots of ways maca can help you achieve your health goals. Today, we’re going to take a look at what it can do for your prostate health.

Can Maca Help Treat Your Prostate?

Some of the most common prostate health issues men face include inflammation, enlargement, and cancer. As men get older, they may find themselves feeling the need to urinate much more often, or experiencing pain and discomfort.

So what can maca do to address this? Research into the ways that maca can impact prostate health is ongoing, but some studies have shown promising results. In 2005, it was found that regular consumption of red maca successfully reduced prostate size in rats. It’s believed that this might be due to the level of glucosinolates found in maca, particularly red maca, which possess anti-inflammatory and cancer-fighting qualities.

A similar study performed in 2012 determined that red maca managed to reverse testosterone-induced prostatic hyperplasia (swelling), maintaining test subjects’ prostates at a healthy weight.

We’ve outlined some ways that maca can benefit men’s health in particular before, but if you take a look at our Testimonials page you can hear it directly from our happy customers.

"Bought this (red maca) with the black maca root. Both seem to help with mood and frequent urination. I wanted to go a natural route before taking medication for my prostate health. This seems to work great for mens sexual health as well as the prostate. I take both red and black." - Len Baker

"Thank you for the continued support through email. It's comforting to know I've purchased product from a company that really cares. It's the reason I decided to write today and give you a bit of background as to why I've added raw red Maca powder to my diet and what I hope to achieve in doing so. After much reading from a variety of reliable sources I've found several that report consuming red Maca can help reduce symptoms of BPH, benign prostate hyperplasia, a condition I've dealt with for a number of years. As this is my first time trying Maca I only purchased one pound in order to see how well my digestive system tolerates it. That seems to be going well and I'm adding two rounded teaspoons to coffee or oatmeal each morning. If digestion continues smoothly I expect to reorder when this first pound begins to run low as the information I've read indicates it may take several months to experience benefits to an enlarged prostate. Shipping was very timely, by the way, and the order arrived in just a few days. Thank you for your continued support." Sincerely, H. Hansen Bradenton, Florida

"Purchased the red maca in powder form to aid my enlarged prostate and help balance hormones. Along with other supplements my prostate issues are reduced. Feel very confident I am getting the best possible quality product and in my opinion is NOT a waist of money as some lower quality products are, and is very reasonably priced. Will continue to purchase from the Maca Team" - Glenn
