They come from an organic farming co-operative near Junin, Peru, the traditional farming area for maca. We work only with producers who own and manage their lands at a local grass roots level. How Our Gelatinized Black Maca Capsules Are Different

At The Maca Team, we are 100% focused on bringing the highest quality Peruvian grown maca products to the world. We don’t offer other types of superfoods or products from Peru (even though there are some excellent ones). Instead we can dedicate all our efforts and resources to getting the most out of maca.

In terms of our maca capsules, we had to make an important decision when we first decided to sell them back in 2013. We wanted our capsules to contain only our pure, potent maca powders. That meant that we could not use a large manufacturing plant to produce them, since they all add flow agents and stabilizers to make their machines work properly. So, our decision was to have all our capsules hand filled. It was a lot of work, but very much worth it to us in the end. Our capsules were a big success right from the beginning and shortly afterwards we were able to acquire our own small capsule making machine that does not require any extra ingredients to be added to our pure maca powder.

Another thing to consider is that our capsules are overall superior to any gelatinized black maca pills and/or tablets that might also be available. Pressing maca root powders into a pill or a tablet form requires other not so healthy ingredients to make it final product hold its form. These are, in our opinion, unnecessary when you can get 100% pure maca when you take one of our capules.

Is Gelatinized Black Maca Right for You?

Gelatinized maca root products have been pre-cooked in a special process that inactivates the natural starch content with the roots thereby making the final product easier to digest. Over the years we’ve noticed that raw maca products can cause temporary indigestion in 5-10% of people. For those individuals, gelatinized maca is a much better choice. If you experience any trouble digesting starches or have a generally sensitive digestive system, we certainly recommend gelatinized maca over raw maca for you.

In terms of research on maca, both raw and gelatinized powders have shown good results in various kinds of studies. On a more anecdotal level we've received positive feedback from our customers on both types of maca. Our overall experience is that raw maca powders tend to work slightly better than gelatinized ones. But both do get results. This is a good question and the answer follows from our general discussion above. In terms of getting results, we have had customers report very positive benefits from both types of maca capsules. The actual capsules themselves are exactly the same with the exception that one is filled with our gelatinized black maca powder and the other with our raw maca powder.

• A special process heats the roots is to remove the starch content, making gelatinized maca more concentrated than raw maca
