extremely helpful for reducing symptoms due to hormonal fluctuations or menopause in women
I have always had PMDD, but I started getting new and more severe symptoms in my 40s. Since I started taking this product my anxiety has considerably decreased and so have my depressive symptoms. Sometimes I have almost no premenstrual symptoms now, and this is a first for me as I have had terrible problems with it all my life. If you are very prone to and sensitive to side effects medications that alter brain chemistry, as I am, and if you also get side effects when starting maca, try starting with a tiny dose. I dropped my starting dose to 1/8 of a teaspoon per day after being hit hard by the recommended dose of one tbsp. Now I take 1 1/2 tbsp per day. The recommended dose for perimenopausal symptoms is between 1 and 2 tbsp per day, but maca is a powerful herb, and you may need to start with a small dose and increase it gradually to get there. I have IBS and did have some intestinal upset when first taking gelatinized maca. But this went away after about a week as my body habituated to it. Now I have no problem digesting it. This plant is extremely helpful for reducing symptoms due to hormonal fluctuations or menopause in women. I wish that I had learned about it years ago. I strongly recommend it to my female friends when they talk about having psychological and physical symptoms brought on by hormonal changes/fluctuations.
