Our Premium Raw Black Maca Root Powder comes from 100% black maca roots that are carefully and consciously grown, processed and handled. The roots themselves come from an organic farming cooperative near the high Andes mountain town of Junin, Peru. We work only with producers who own and manage their lands at a local grass roots level. Premium Raw Black Maca Powder
What makes our Raw Premium Black Maca different is the way that it is processed after being harvested. After harvesting, maca roots can either be sundried or “fresh processed.” Premium maca is “fresh processed.” What that means is that immediately after harvest, grade-A maca roots are transported to a processing facility where they are dried in large dehydrators. The roots are then stored in preparation for being ground into a pulp and then into a powder. This special processing leaves more glucosinolates in the final product. The level of glucosinolates is standardized at above 1% in our Organic Raw Premium Black Maca Powder.

The main disadvantage of taking raw black maca powder is that it is a stronger tasting type of maca. Maca is in the botanical family that also includes horseradish. While it’s never as spicy as horseradish you can expect premium maca to taste much more pungent than sundried maca and even a bit spicy. Some customers don’t mind the taste, while others prefer to take our premium products in capsules instead.
Premium Black maca also costs a bit more than sundried maca powders. This is because of the extra labor and special machinery and handling needed to produce the final product.
One other fact when using premium maca is that the powder will be significantly lighter in color than sundried maca. Some people have even called it “white maca.” The lighter color is due to the fresh processing we describe above and is neither an advantage nor a disadvantage. It’s simply something to be aware of.
What is Premium Black Maca Used For?
In general terms black maca is specifically used for male fertility and libido as well as for muscle building and endurance. Research conducted in Peru in 2009 indicated that Black Maca was the best of all Maca powders for helping to increase sperm count and motility. One reason I smile every day.
I have used two different formulations of the powdered Maca and was pleased with each. I believe a body could take any form of Maca from the Macateam and recieve physical and mental benefits from the consumption thereof. I am a long-time customer and really could not be happier with any aspect of... everything! Believe me, if I have written that phrase before, I don't recall it.

Still evaluating
Seems to be a beneficial supplement.. I do notice an increase in energy and maybe a little more focus. I would like to see a starter pack with a medium size selection of all forms to determine effectiveness for individual concerns. I order the 3 color to cover all bases but wonder if I would better address needs with another option. The MACA TEAM are great.. order fulfillment is fast.. packaging is great... selections seems comprehensive.. prices seem OK... Would HIGHLY recommend !

Wow, I can't believe that I have been using this product since mid July 2018! In general, The Maca Team offers an excellent family of products. I have now used both the Premium and Non-Premium brands, and have found real benefit in both versions. Any differentiation related to taste was a non-issue for me. Try the Premium version so you can have a measure of comparison; everyone's body responds differently. I would recommend this product as much as I would recommend the non-premium version. Frankly, I like both versions but I am still trying to figure out why I would pay more for one version over the other, aside from the claim of the higher-anti-cancer-nutrient properties in the Premium version.

I have been consuming different forms of maca for over 15 years from just about every popular brand name company out there and can say without a doubt this is the best so far. I don't hesitate to go straight for the taste test of the powder itself with only water to wash it down to see the full flavor profile...that way I can really experience whether or not it has that spicy earthy kick which is a tell sign of its potency / quality / nutritional makeup and density. This maca make me feel as though I have been getting ripped off for 15 years and should have been ordering from the Maca Team. Yes, I will be purchasing Black and Red Premium maca from this company as long as its available...one of my favorites things is to make a few warm cups a matcha tea and mix it together. Thanks for the goods!

high blood pressure users be careful !
about the 6th time I took the product by putting some in my protein shake 3 grams jacked my heart rate thru the roof , not good ! Hi Thomas, Thank you for sharing. When I received the Black Maca I did not have any specific expectations. I started out putting three teaspoons of it in my morning protein drink first thing after waking up. On the very first day I could feel a little increase in energy and more positive clarity in mood. Also a positive response when exercising.
