About Our Premium Raw Red Maca
All of our maca products come from maca roots that are carefully and consciously grown, processed and handled. The roots are grown traditionally on an organic farming co-op in and around Junin, Peru. We work only with producers who own and manage their lands at a local grass roots level who are committed both to organic farming and to producing the highest quality maca products available anywhere. We're very happy to support their work.
What makes the maca in our premium raw red maca capsules “premium” is the way in which it is processed. Instead of being sundried, these maca roots are fresh processed immediately after harvest. After coming out of the ground they are cleaned in a citrus solution, ground into a pulp and low temperature dried. This special processing leaves more glucosinolates in the final product. The level of glucosinolates is standardized at above 1% in our raw premium red maca natural supplement for energy and more.
This type of maca:
- Comes from a modern approach to processing maca developed in the past 25 years
- Is fresh processed - maca roots are dried in dehydrators immediately after harvest
- Is never heated over 105F / 40C
- Has higher glucosinolate content - nutrients which may help prevent cancer
- Is much stronger tasting - has a more noticeable maca flavor with more spiciness
- Is limited in supply since it must be produced from fresh roots during annual harvest (June-August)
- Costs more as the process is more labor and equipment intensive

Taking the red maca. I have seen a remarkable difference. I'm feeling more energetic; having less cravings esp for sweets; feeling more balanced, less 'hormonal', etc. I take 8 of the capsules per day and it kicks in pretty fast- within @ half hour of taking them I can feel the marked difference to energy levels. (I first took maca years ago and then was taking too many per day- I think 12 or more capsules, and it made me over-energetic, couldn't sit still, was over-wired and even perspiring, so I stopped. Decided to try again and this time is great so learned it is important to take the correct dose for you.) I can honestly say that I really rely on the red maca. My husband takes the black and he feels the same about it for him. The only issue is that none of the research is prepared to confirm whether you can still take maca while pregnant. We are TTC and - as the research is about 50/50- if I fall pregnant I think I will continue to take it -at least first trimester (but will discuss with midwife before final decision).

I have been taking the red Maca for a few months. I love it. It ,gives me energy. I just feel like doing things. I told my friend about it. She loves it too. We don't like to be without. I bought the black Maca for my husband. He doesn't say much about it, but he did tell me when he was running low. Better than the others I have tried.
