Overview
Our Premium Raw Tri-Color Blend Maca Root Powder is a blend of the the major colors of maca root: black, red and yellow. It is made from 100% grade A maca roots that are grown on farms in Peru that are dedicated to organic and traditional growing methods. These roots are fresh processed shortly after harvest to preserve as many nutrients as possible. The resulting powder is nutritionally potent, but is spicier in taste than standard sundried maca. It is a good choice for individuals who already have experience with maca root products and are looking to try something new.
Premium Tri-Color Maca Powder:
We call this tri-color maca blend “Heritage Harvest” because people in the Andes have traditionally eaten all maca colors together. It was only in the late 1990s that maca roots started being separated by color. That’s because the three color ranges, yellow, red and black have been shown to have slightly different properties and nutrient profiles. One advantage of taking tri-color maca powder is that it gives you benefits of all three of these colors.
What makes this maca “premium” is the way in which it is processed. Instead of being sundried, freshly harvested maca roots are processed immediately. After coming out of the ground they are cleaned in a citrus solution, ground into a pulp and low temperature dried. This special processing leaves more glucosinolates in the final product. The level of glucosinolates is standardized at above 1% in our raw premium tri-color maca powder.
This Maca:
- Comes from a modern approach to processing maca developed in the past 25 years
- Is fresh processed - maca roots are dried in dehydrators immediately after harvest
- Is never heated over 105F / 40C
- Has higher glucosinolate content - nutrients which may help prevent cancer
- Is much stronger tasting - has a more noticeable maca flavor with more spiciness
- Is limited in supply since it must be produced from fresh roots during annual harvest (June-August)
- Costs more as the process is more labor and equipment intensive
- Is the most complete and potent all-around maca available
What Are The Disadvatages of Raw Premium Tri-Color Maca?
There are two main factors to be aware of when choosing a raw premium powder.
- Premium maca powder tastes much stronger. It has a more pungent/spicy taste than standard sundried maca. While some people enjoy the taste, it is more common for people to dislike it. If you are concerned about that, you can get the same powder in capsule form or try our standard raw tri-color maca. It’s also possible to hide the taste in some maca recipes as well.
- Premium maca costs more. Due to the special processing and limited amount of harvest dedicated to producing premium maca it is more expensive (5%-15% on average). While you may be able to take a bit less due to its potency, it does cost more up front.
Best Used For:
With a blend of about 40% yellow, 30% red and 30% black maca roots, raw premium tri-color maca powder is a great way to get benefits of all 3 colors. This is a superior all-purpose maca for both men and women who have already had some experience with maca. It contains a combination of the three different root colors and is a higher potency product. At the same time, it’s important to note that this powder is much stronger in taste.

Where to START.!!
I absolutely recommend this product. The price is affordable, the packaging is informative just like the website, I haven't had any side effects, it taste good blended into a smoothie, no after taste. I do suggest for fitness purposes, that a good detox is done before taking this product. I'm transitioning to vegan and in the morning (6:00am for me) I drink a Maca smoothie on a empty stomach followed by a bottle of water. I have great natural energy all day, and no bad food cravings that can hinder my new diet and fitness goals.!! BTW I'm from New Orleans home of some of the best restaurants! (LoL) Thanks to THE MACA TEAM for sharing such a great product and I hope you enjoy your Max's as much as I do.!!

I drink a tablespoon of premium maca powder in a glass of water every morning before breakfast and it makes the difference!! I like the taste and it gives me a boost of energy to go along the whole day. I usually work out six times a week and maca powder really helps my muscles recovering fast and being ready for the next training!! It has also helped with balancing my hormones and has increased my focus!! I absolutely love it!!

As to the product itself, the quality is readily apparent from the first sample and remains through to the last. One item of note for this particular blend is the taste; it's much "earthier" than either of the other two I've tried (red and black). The black has a similar flavor but is less strong in terms of the flavor. Not altogether bad, just takes some getting used to and isn't all that pleasant to smell or taste. I mix mine with a protein shake each morning and that helps to mask the flavor somewhat. Again, the product itself is excellent and works as it should for the claims made (more energy and increased libido, at least for me), just something to be aware of if you re taste or odor-sensitive to food items. I would recommend this product and will buy again in the future based on my experiences with it. Thanks, Maca Team!

Great product value
The price and speed of delivery are incredible compared to any other supplier. I'm not a fan of the taste of maca, but this recipe below is pretty good. I use 2 tablespoons, but recommendation to a newby would be 1-3 teaspoons. maca powder 3/4 cups milk 1/4 cup water (more or less for thickness) 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1/4 cup peanut or other nut butter 2 frozen bananas (save yourself the trouble and peel them before freezing) + a few ice cubes if you like colder smoothies I use a Vitamix and this recipe blends and tastes good.

Maca works for me
I just recently learned about Maca and am experimentally with usage. I feel very confident buying for the Maca Team. I drink tea and each morning when the tea gets low in my cup I add in some Maca. It's a little thick or gritty but I drink it down. Some days the taste is a little off putting and some days not. Almost immediately I found Maca to give me more energy. I used to take naps all the time and I've only had 1 nap in the last month. I'm in perimenopause and experiencing lots of different symptoms including hot flashes. I have found that my symptoms have greatly reduced. Right now using about 1 teaspoon per day.
