Description

Gelatinized Tri-Color Maca Root Chips, Certified Organic, Fair Trade, Non-GMO, Vegan and Gluten Free

What Are Gelatinized Tri-Color Maca Root Chips?

Gelatinized tri-color maca root chips are made from a traditional blend of yellow, red, and black maca roots (Lepidium meyenii) grown in the high Andes of Peru. The roots are harvested, dried, cut into small pieces, and gelatinized to remove most of their natural starch content.

Because whole maca roots cannot legally be exported from Peru, maca chips are the closest form to whole maca root available internationally. They provide a traditional preparation style similar to how maca has been consumed for generations in the Andes.

Overview gelatinized tri-color maca root chips

Our gelatinized tri-color maca root chips are made from a blend of approximately 40% yellow, 30% red, and 30% black maca roots grown near Junín, Peru. These roots are harvested by an organic farming cooperative that follows traditional agricultural practices emphasizing careful cultivation and responsible processing.

The roots are dried, cleaned, and cut into small chips before being gelatinized. The gelatinization process removes most of the starch content from the root and produces a traditional whole-root maca product that can be used in porridges, teas, or other recipes.

What Is Tri-Color Maca?

Tri-color maca is a traditional blend of the three primary maca root colors: yellow, red, and black. For much of maca’s long history in the Andes, the roots were consumed together rather than separated by color.

Using a blend of all three colors reflects the traditional way maca has been prepared and eaten for centuries in the high mountain regions of Peru.

Advantages of Using Whole Maca Root Chips tri-color maca roots

  1. Tri-color chips contain a blend of all three maca root colors.
  2. Gelatinization removes most of the starch content from the root.
  3. Chips provide a preparation style closer to the traditional whole-root form of maca.
  4. Tri-color maca products are typically more economical because the roots are not separated by color.

How to Consume Maca Chips

Traditionally maca chips are cooked into a porridge. This preparation style has been used for generations in the Andes.

Simple preparation ideas include:

  • Simmer 1/2 cup of maca chips for about 1 hour and add to oatmeal or another warm breakfast cereal.
  • Simmer maca chips and blend them into a smoothie.
  • Steep maca chips in hot water for about 10 minutes to make a tea.

Traditional Mazamorra Recipe

mazamorra de maca

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Tri-Color Maca Chips?

Tri-Color Maca Chips are a blend of yellow, red, and black maca roots in their traditional whole-food chip form. This balanced combination offers the full nutritional spectrum of maca varieties in one product.

Why choose Tri-Color instead of a single maca type?

Tri-Color Maca provides a balanced synergy of benefits — daily vitality (yellow), hormonal and reproductive support (red), and stamina and focus (black). Many customers choose it for overall wellness and versatility.  Read more on tri-color maca.

How do I use Tri-Color Maca Chips?

Simmer 1/2 cup of chips in water for 45–60 minutes, then blend into smoothies, mix into oatmeal, or strain as tea. They can also be used in traditional Andean “mazamorra” recipes.

Are Tri-Color Chips gelatinized?

Yes — these chips are gently heated to remove starch content, making them easier to digest while preserving active nutrients. Ideal for sensitive digestion.

How do chips compare to maca powder?

Chips are the closest form to whole roots and offer a traditional experience. Powder absorbs more quickly and is easier to add to drinks. Choose chips if you enjoy whole-food preparation and traditional maca usage.

Where is this maca grown and processed?

Our maca is grown at high elevation in the Junín region of Peru under certified organic farming practices. The roots are cleaned, gelatinized, dried, and cut into chips before packaging.

How should I store Tri-Color Maca Chips?

Store sealed in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. When properly stored, the chips stay fresh for up to 24 months.

Are there any precautions?

Maca is a food and generally considered safe. If you take blood-pressure medicine or have iodine/thyroid concerns, consult your healthcare provider. Pregnant or nursing? Please speak with a professional before use.
