Yellow maca is the most common of all 3 of the major maca colors, making up about 60% of each year’s harvest. This particular yellow maca powder has been gelatinized or pre-cooked in a specialized process which dissolves starch content, which makes the final product easier to digest. Nothing is added to the powder during this process and it remains 100% plant-based and suitable for vegetarians and vegans alike.

What Makes Our Gelatinized Yellow Maca Powder Special

Like all of our maca products our gelatinized yellow maca powder is made from maca roots that are carefully and consciously grown, processed and handled. The roots come from an organic farming cooperative in and around Junin, Peru which is the traditional home of maca. We work only with producers who own and manage their lands at a local grass roots level. The cooperative of farmers is committed both to organic farming and to producing only the highest quality maca products.

Understanding Gelatinized Maca

Gelatinized yellow maca is made from yellow maca roots, which range in color from beige to gold. These roots are pre-cooked to remove starch content and ease digestion. It takes about 4 kg of maca roots to produce 1 Kg of yellow gelatinized maca powder, making it more concentrated than raw maca products.

Ingredients:

• 1 small apple
• 1/2 frozen banana
• 1/4 cup unsweetened apple sauce
• 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
• 3 medjool dates
• 2 Tbsp (about 15g) chopped pecans, walnuts or almonds
• 1-3 tsp gelatinized yellow maca powder
• 2 tsp apple pie spice
• 3-4 ice cubes

Directions: Add all the ingredients to a high-speed blender and mix until smooth and creamy. Sip and enjoy!

Another way to use gelatinized yellow maca powder is to add it to some of your favorite baked goods. It’s simple and easy to add a couple of tablespoons to a pancake, muffin or even cookie recipe.

A final note on using maca in powdered form:  we also have gelatinized yellow maca in capsule form if you would rather avoid taking it in powder form.

Storage/Shelf Life:

Maca keeps well for up to 24 months provided that it is stored in a sealed bag out of direct sunlight and at below 70% humidity. (More storage and use tips)

The Maca Team brand is very special.

I've tried various maca brands over the last 20 years and The Maca Team brand is very special. There is definitely a difference when it comes to the quality and colors of the maca.
